Farm Holiday in Tuscany

Here you are to this new post to update you for the events in Tuscany  I recommend for this month.
San Miniato 14-15, 21-22, 28-29 November: Internation fetsivall of white truffle
The white truffle or so called Tuber magnatum pico is the most valuable
species of truffle. During these months there are a lot of truffle researchers who look for truffles in the woods of san miniato and montaione. They use special dogs called Lagotti to find truffles. Most of searchers look for truffle during the night so it is likely to meet one of them  in the heart of the night inside a wood!!

The reason is that they do not want to show to other people the places where they are use to find truffles. They are jealous of their places since these truffle represent for the searcher a business. When they got the truffles, they take them to the festival of san miniato to show and to sell them. The fair of truffle in san miniato is one of the biggest and most important of Italy and you really have to visit it if you are spending your holidays in Tuscany in November. During the fair you can walk across the showrooms of the truffles searchers of san miniato that will be very pleaced to offer and make you taste a piece of good truffle over a piece of bread (bruschette) together with some oil (still flavored with truffle). During the fair you can visit also some nice antique trade markets.
San Miniato is not far from Belmonte farmhouse. It last just 25 km and it can be a nice trip because san miniato is a very nice village you can not miss if you are on vacation in Tuscany.

Montespertoli (Fi) 22 November: Vin santo festival

The 22 of  November will be the day of vin santo. Vin santo is a special sweet wine  which is drank especially at the end of a dinner together with cakes.In Montespertoli you can taste different types of vin santo on 22 november  in fact in the “centro per la cultura del vino” of montespertoli from 10.30 on will start the tasting of vin santo which will be offered together with typical cakes, cheeses. If you take part to this funny event remember also to visit the museum of wine of Montespertoli and some other nice corner of this pretty village. Motespertoli is just 20 km far from Belmonte. 14-15 november: Certaldo chocolate festival
Certaldo is absolutely one of the most pictouresque towns of Tuscany you have to visit if you are on holiday in farmhouse in tuscany.
Here I want to suggest you to visit this town on 14 and 15 of November when there will be the festival of chocolate. In Tuscany there is a good tradition of chocolate crafts. During this weekend you can try different specialties of chocolate tasting them directly from the stands which are situated down the historical streets of Certaldo. Besides about the “centro polivalente” you can have a special meal based on chocolate like chocolate noodles! Delicious! Certaldo  is just 20 km far from Montaione. This event can be a good idea for your holiday in Montaione.

15 november: festival of oil and wine in Vinci
Vinci is  the homeland of Leonardo ( there is its house you can visit!) the famous genius. This village is very nice because of the technological and renovated museum of Leonardo and because is one of the characteristic hamlet of Tuscany where it look like to walk in a medieval age atmosphere.
So if you’ll go to Vinci on 15 of November you will visit this nice hamlet during the festival of oil and wine of Vinci you can taste from the local producers the oil and win of this part of Tuscany.
Vinci is 30 km far from Montaione!
In the same day for example you can leave from Belmonte in montaione and make a doble stop in vinci and san miniato and then to go back to the farmhouse.
