Horse riding in Tuscany

One of the most exciting activities you must experience during your farm house holiday is riding a horse through the hills and the typical Tuscan landscape. Residence Belmonte is located in a perfect area to practice horseback riding; it’s the area between Elsa Valley and Era Valley, magic landscape made of gentle hills, sunflower fields, olive groves, woods and lakes. It’s the perfect place to go on a long horse ride through the many paths and the typical “white roads” and to experience the direct contact with these wonderful animals.

Horse riding centres near Belmonte 

 People spending holidays in Belmonte often decide to try the thrill of riding in the beautiful Tuscan countryside in the riding centre "Il Fregione". From Belmonte farm you can see it. It is in Villamagna, a small village near Iano, very close to the apartments of Belmonte. The riding centre “Il Fregione” is run by Vincenzo (Instructor and Senior Equestrian Guide – E.N.G.E.A.) and Margherita (Environmental Equestrian Riding Guide and Recreational Equestrian Operator for Disabled Persons E.N.G.E.A), who teaches and takes care of children thanks to her skills. Both have many years of experience in the world of horses and they know the territory very well. They even organize long trips spanning several days; they reach the seaside through the small countryside tracks. The riding centre can be reached by bike or in a couple of minutes driving, it is only 3 kilometres far from Belmonte.

Every year in May Carlo and Ludovica spend their holiday in Belmonte, and each time they visit Vincenzo and Margherita for a two hours trip to improve their style, thanks to their helpful advices. The center offers different kinds of excursions you can arrange with Vincenzo and Margherita.

Even horses as Belmonte’s guests

 In March the tenth edition of the Florence-Riparbella was organized, a horse trip for horses lovers riding every year from Florence to the seaside near Riparbella crossing the Tuscan countryside. The eighteen horse rider together with their horses decided to overnight in Belmonte during their trip. The horses were well welcomed and provided with water and oats. The following morning the riders left Belmonte to reach Riparbella. Following this experience they decided to elect Belmonte as official rest house for the next editions of the horse ride Florence-Riparbella.

 Next project: a horse riding centre inside Belmonte’s farm

Belmonte farmhouse is surrounded by a large estate consisting of over two hundred hectares of hills, woods, olive groves, wheat and sunflowers fields, beautiful lakes and paths through the Tuscan countryside. A riding centre inside the property might be an excellent opportunity for Belmonte’s customers. They could ride a horse reaching the center in a few minutes walking, directly from their apartments. Piero and Lauro are looking for professional people, who can be able to handle a riding centre, organize tours and excursions on horseback, and courses for children and adults to learn them to ride. We are planning to create a horse riding ranch to be managed by very professional people so that we will be able to offer our guests an excellent service. It would be very interesting if you could tell what do you think about our project. Maybe you can give us some good advices. Every year Belmonte staff work very hard to improve the service quality of the holiday farmhouse. In 2004 we built the professional tennis court, in 2005 we added the gazebo to the apartments, the football field in 2006, the trekking tracks in 2008, guided tours in mountain bike with "Biking Tuscany" in 2009 … etc. ..), the riding center will be our next project!
