Tuscany land of wine  

Experience a holiday in the authentic Tuscany also means knowing one of its most famous products: wine, the "Nectar of the Gods. Travelling through the hilly roads in the neighbourhood of Belmonte, in August we can see many large vineyards with ripe grapes. The landscape seems a postcard. Belmonte is in the very heart of the Tuscan countryside, surrounded by many wine producers working hard to make a better wine year by year.

In the neighbourhood of Belmonte many farmers produce excellent wines. They often come to Belmonte bringing brochures and leaflets to promote their farm with wine tasting and the possibility to buy wine bottles.

In the reception of Belmonte you may find all the information you need about them.   Elisa and Lauro work every day to find all the interesting events in the nearby of Belmonte (festivals, markets, museums, exhibitions etc.), to find new good restaurants or food festivals, or a place where you can experience a wine tasting. They don’t want to suggest a new place to their customers without trying it. That’s why Lauro went to try a new wine tasting place… and he liked it very much!  

Wine tasting within the farm "Azienda agricola Tamburini"

Emanuela Tamburini is a young and brilliant oenologist and she produces wine. She came to Belmonte to propose us the wine tasting in her farm giving us very nice brochures and good maps to get to the farm Azienda agricola Tamburini. Emanuela was very professional and the wine tasting tour seemed very interesting, so Lauro went to try it. The farm is very close to Belmonte since it is located in Gambassi terme, a small village in the neighbourhood of Montaione. Lauro went there with Walter, one of our best costumers. He comes from Holland and every year he spends his holiday with his family in our farm. This was their seventh time in Belmonte. Family Tamburini, producing wine for generation, gave us a warm welcome and then the tour began, discovering how they produce the sweet Nectar of Bacchus.

Emanuela showed us the temperature-controlled steel storage containers and explained us how wine ferments and how it must be stored.

The tour continued down in the cool cellars where we saw the wooden French barrels where wine is stored and controlled every day as if it were a baby. The explanation of the wine bottling was also very interesting.

After the tour we went into the picturesque wine tasting room where Mrs Adele had set the table with wine bottles and some typical Tuscan food for their Italian and foreign guests.

Lauro and the other tourists tasted three wonderful wines produced by combining different grapes and production processes: the Massiccio, Moraccio and Castelluccio. The wine tasting was accompanied by some trays of crostini, roasted bread with different sauces, fettunta made with the good organic oil produced within the farm, different types of salami and cheeses. During the wine tasting Emanuela kept on explaining the different qualities of each wine.

Finally Mrs. Adele served us some delicious bread with hand-made grape marmalade accompanied by the Vin santo "D’incanto" and by the grappa Chianti.

At the end of the wine tasting the guests were very pleased and they have decided to buy some bottles of wine Castelluccio, Massiccio, Moraccio and grappa. Note that they were not forced to buy some wine. The price of the guided tour within the farm included the wine and food tasting is 15 euros per person. They all were fully satisfied and they told to the other costumers in Belmonte about their good experience, so that almost every day some guests decide to go there and try the wine tasting. And you?
